Inspired by the great Scottish links courses, and designed by renowned golf course architect Gary Kern, Aberdeen Golf Club delivers a unique playing experience rooted in tradition while feeling distinctly modern. Although not located on true seaside linksland, the course captures the look, feel, and strategy of classic Scottish golf. Firm turf, natural contours, and ever-present winds encourage creativity and shot-making, with greens that often reward well-played running approaches.
Signature Scottish features are woven throughout the course. Deep pot bunkers with sod-wall faces challenge precision, while sweeping dune mounding frames each hole and defines the rough. Native grasses are allowed to grow long in select areas, reinforcing the importance of accuracy and smart course management—power alone is rarely enough at Aberdeen.
Strategic burns, inspired by traditional Scottish drainage canals, come into play across the course, influencing both line and club selection. Adding to the authentic links character are two double greens, a nod to the Old Course at St. Andrews. The first and sixth holes share a green, as do the ninth and eighteenth holes, with the closing double green wrapping dramatically around Loch Myst to create a memorable finish.
Each hole at Aberdeen is named in keeping with Scottish tradition. While water hazards are uncommon on classic links courses, Aberdeen features two lakes that support the course’s wall-to-wall irrigation system and add strategic interest. “Wee Loch” subtly impacts play on the second and third holes, while the larger “Loch Myst” commands attention from tee to green on both the ninth and eighteenth—testing nerve and execution when it matters most.
Designed to challenge skilled golfers while remaining enjoyable and accessible for all levels, Aberdeen Golf Club rewards thoughtful play, creativity, and adaptability. Multiple teeing options, generous landing areas, and well-positioned hazards ensure the course is as playable as it is demanding.
Opened on July 14, 2001, Aberdeen Golf Club is proudly owned and operated independently by Lord Rockney and Lady Ann Dollarhide. Today, Aberdeen stands as a modern interpretation of classic Scottish golf—timeless in character, strategic in design, and unforgettable to play.
